In a survey carried out by two price comparison services, Kuantokusta and Netquest, 1,081 people were asked about online and in-person shopping. The survey revealed that consumers feel much more comfortable shopping on the internet, they say they feel pressured in physical stores by salespeople, with the arguments they use to induce compulsive buying.
When asked how they made a purchase they regretted, 43% answered that it was in a physical store and 28% in an online store.
When consumers go shopping they prefer to have someone with them (to get a second opinion), because they don’t feel confident about completing the purchase. Around 57% of people go to a store with someone, while in e-commerce 73% shop alone.
This makes it clear that consumers feel more confident in online stores (61% of those interviewed), because they aren’t pressured and can research prices and learn the characteristics of one or more products, besides checking the store’s credibility when it comes to delivering goods.
E-commerce is winning over the market with unmatched advantages and reduced costs, because it adapts to customers' schedules, providing the same guarantees on purchases and often lower prices.
