Today IT professionals in Brazil face a broad job market with few qualified competitors. However, the areas with the fewest qualified professionals are network management, IP telephony and online security. This information comes from consultancy IDC, which expects a shortage of these professionals in Brazil’s job market. This year there is a shortage of around 40 thousand technology professionals, and for 2015 an increase to 117 thousand open positions is predicted.

The rapid expansion of infrastructure and technology companies in the country is cited as a factor in the lack of qualified labor, as is the adaptation of IT services by public and private initiatives.

However, the survey points to this shortage across all of Latin America, with demand for professionals exceeding the supply of labor, reaching 27% in 2015.

To reach these conclusions, consultancy IDC carried out 767 interviews with organizations such as governments, education, health, telecommunications and financial services companies, in companies with more than 100 employees.
